Simulation and Analysis

Simulation and Analysis

Packaged alongside our control engineering or as a standalone work flow, Contract Innovation offer a range of Simulation and Analysis capabilities from problem solving to virtual prototyping and from component to full vehicle simulation.

Understanding the dynamic behaviour of a system is critical to being able to optimise the performance and robustness of that system in an application. Whether manually shifted or under automatic control, our tools allow the recreation of operational scenarios, the application of manufacturing tolerances, and the consideration of noise factors in a structured manner impossible with traditional hardware based development.

Shift System Optimisation

We can recreate and resolve problems with existing systems or de-risk complex engineering programmes through upfront analysis, facilitating low cost design changes before committing to hardware.

Typical applications include:

•Electric, Hydraulic and Pneumatic shift systems

•Synchronisers and Dog clutches

•Cross and Inter axle differential locks

•Manual gearbox shift quality

Active Suspension Development

Our active suspension development toolchain enables fast and efficient development, and evaluation of active suspension system performance.

With control algorithms, calibration and multibody plant models all running within one environment from The Mathworks, we are able to develop the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical system specification under direct control of the algorithms to be deployed to the vehicle.

Greater system performance, reduced time to market, and lower cost, are all programme attributes readily achieved with this Model-in-the-loop based approach to system development.

Virtual Testing in a Synthetic Environment

One of the most difficult noise factors to recreate in a virtual environment is that of the driver. For this purpose, Contract Innovation have developed their driver-in-the-loop simulation capability.

Whether developing software or hardware, with real world driver behaviour, our bespoke, in-house developed system allows us to quickly and effectively tailor the environment to best represent your vehicle and usage scenarios saving time and money in complex prototype based development.
